We use named sets to help us determine actual vs forecasted months. Not the solution you are looking for unfortunately!
I use the carry forward from actuals for our forecasting and have found it useful but we need to figure out a way of overwriting the actuals for a GL where we don’t have actual data in our ERP. I figured that we could journal the information in Prophix and that might work as it would create an ‘actual’ but I have yet to try it.

We use a combination of EOMONTH formula and an IF statement to determine which months are actuals and which months are forecast. This allows us to see which months produce actuals in templates based on the roll forward for “current month” in the model manager.
